The American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) is preparing to hold its annual gala dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 24, in an event that takes on special significance this year as the organization celebrates 40 years since its founding and four decades of work to strengthen U.S.-Lebanon relations.
The annual dinner brings together political, diplomatic, and business figures, as well as prominent members of the Lebanese-American community. Through the event, ATFL seeks to keep Lebanon at the forefront of policy discussions in Washington while promoting stability, sovereignty, prosperity, and stronger ties between Lebanon and the United States.

This year’s gala will also honor a number of individuals and institutions in recognition of their contributions. Among the honorees is American University of Beirut President Dr. Fadlo Khuri, who will receive the Peter J. Tanous Founder’s Award, recognizing his commitment to education and the resilience of Lebanon’s academic institutions.

ATFL will also honor the Lebanese Red Cross with the Ray R. Irani Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of its humanitarian role and its vital work in emergency medical response, blood services, healthcare, and relief efforts across Lebanon.

The annual dinner comes amid intensified ATFL engagement with Lebanon. A delegation from the organization recently visited Beirut and held meetings with senior Lebanese officials and key political, diplomatic, security, and private-sector figures, with discussions focusing on support for state institutions, stability, and strengthening economic and investment ties between Lebanon and the United States.
