A gathering held at the residence of Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, in Washington witnessed a protest by a member of the Lebanese community amid ongoing political developments and negotiations involving Lebanon and Israel.

A video circulating on social media shows one of the attendees addressing those present, identifying himself as being from South Lebanon before raising questions about what can be done for Lebanon and expressing his concerns over developments affecting the South.

The incident comes at a politically sensitive time, just days after Ambassador Moawad participated in the fourth round of Lebanese-Israeli talks hosted by the U.S. State Department in Washington on June 2 and 3. The United States confirmed that it hosted the round with representatives from Lebanon and Israel.

In previous remarks following the talks, Moawad stressed the importance of a ceasefire, Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the return of displaced residents to their homes.
