The Consulate General of Lebanon in Detroit hosted a meeting dedicated to exploring ways the Lebanese American community can contribute to reconstruction and development efforts in Lebanon. 
The gathering brought together a delegation from the Lebanese American Commission for Democracy (LACD) -Michigan Chapter, along with a number of Lebanese diaspora leaders and community representatives.

The meeting was convened by Lebanon’s Consul General in Detroit, Ibrahim Chahrara, and featured a presentation by Bill Maadarani, Founder and President of the American Foundation on Lebanon (AFOL). Maadarani outlined ongoing humanitarian initiatives and reconstruction projects in South Lebanon, highlighting efforts aimed at supporting affected communities and advancing recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Discussions focused on the role that the Lebanese diaspora in the United States can play in supporting Lebanon during the coming phase, particularly through strengthening partnerships between diaspora organizations and institutions involved in humanitarian and development projects.

Participants emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts across the Lebanese diaspora to support reconstruction and promote sustainable development, noting that the expertise, resources, and networks of Lebanese abroad represent a vital asset in helping Lebanon confront its current challenges.

The LACD delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to Lebanon’s recovery and to fostering cooperation among Lebanese diaspora organizations in a manner that serves the national interest and helps build a more stable and prosperous future.

The meeting concluded with a call for continued communication and coordination between diaspora institutions and Lebanese official representatives, based on the shared belief that unified efforts are essential to supporting Lebanon’s recovery and long-term reconstruction.
